Each student will be tested on his or her first class day to determine the student's level. The placement test will cover listening, reading, language use, speaking and writing. This test is the Interchange Third Edition / Passages Placement Test and is used only to determine a student's level in ECI's English Language Program. Standardized tests (e.g. the Michigan Placement Test) or additional measurements are also used.

ECI is a recognized and approved site for Internet-based TOEFL Test (IBT). Anyone may choose this site when signing up for the test at the TOEFL website.
